Vocalist Renée Tannenbaum returns to Blues Alley for a special multilingual holiday show, sharing her lyrical interpretations of jazz selections in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Joining her on stage is a stellar band featuring Jon Ozment on piano, Vince McCool on trumpet, John Previti on bass and Gary Montanaro on drums, with special guest Rick Peralta on guitar.
Born in Toronto, Renée appeared in a variety of venues in Canada, Italy and New York City before moving to Washington, D.C., where she has been living and singing since 2001. With her warm and engaging energy, she plays with the area’s top jazz musicians, fronting her own combo at the city’s best music venues. Beyond the local clubs, here in the nation’s capital she has also performed at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival and at several of the Smithsonian’s prestigious concerts, including the Take Five! jazz series at the American Art Museum and the National Gallery of Art’s Jazz in the Garden concert series. Renée also tours internationally, in Italy and the Czech Republic. Her CD Sway was released in 2006.
