Michelle Hodges, a Washington D.C.-based vocalist, is an active featured soloist pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Hailing from
Stafford, Virginia, Ms. Hodges spent five years working as a United States Marine Corps
linguist, simultaneously performing in various joint-service choirs while on Active Duty. She
also sang the National Anthem for the 2018 PGA Tour (Monterey, CA). Ms. Hodges currently
performs in the Downbeat award-winning Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble and the Mason Jazz
Ensemble (dir. Jim Carroll) at notable venues such as Blues Alley (Washington D.C.), the
Virginia Music Educators Association Conference (Richmond, VA), the Jazz Education Network
Conference (New Orleans, LA), the Center for the Arts (Fairfax, VA), and the Hylton Performing
Arts Center (Manassas, VA). She has been featured in the Reston Town Center “Meet the Artists”
series, performed backup vocals for renowned solo artist Darden Purcell and the Metropolitan
Jazz Orchestra, and has shared the stage with the American Festival Pops Orchestra under the
baton of Maestro Peter Wilson. She also performed as a featured vocalist in the 2024 Loudoun
Vocal Jazz All-Stars concert and began performing with her own jazz combo, 4Low, in late July
2024.
