The West Winds Big Band
The West Winds Big Band was started in 2000 when several of the west side of Indianapolis high school, middle school, and elementary band directors happened to be playing in the pit orchestra for a musical, and during a break, they started talking about wishing there was a westside jazz orchestra that they all could play in, and The West Winds Big Band was born.
TWWBB has played at venues all over Indiana, and has some of Indiana's best musicians, all of whom have played at The Jazz Kitchen before with a variety of bands!
Playing all musical styles and music from the golden age of big band right up to the music of today, The West Winds Big Band is led by Thomas Ewigleben with vocalist Kate Engle!
