Saxophonist and composer Jack Wilkins has eight CD’s out as a leader including: “Acadian Rhythms,” “Saxophone Legacy,” “The Banff Project”, “The Blue and Green Project”, and “The Rundle Sessions”.
Jack can also be heard as a featured soloist on the critically-acclaimed recordings by Chuck Owen and the Jazz Surge, including “Whispers on the Wind” for which he was a Grammy award finalist as a performer and as the saxophone soloist on “River Runs: A Concerto for Jazz Guitar, Saxophone and Orchestra”. Jack’s latest CD project – “Acadian Rhythms” comes from his appointment as 2022 Artist-in-Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine. New music compositions and performances are inspired by the Acadia experience. Jack Wilkins is Professor Emeritus at the University of South Florida School of Music where he was Director of the Jazz Studies program. Professor Wilkins was appointed as a 2017-18 Fulbright Scholar to the University of Calgary, as Research Chair in the College of Creative and Performing Arts. The Jack Wilkins Quartet will perform originals from the new Acadian Rhythms CD and earlier recordings along with classic jazz repertoire, including tunes from Dexter Gordon, Hank Mobley, and others.
