Butcher Brown is five groove merchants delivering a heady home-brew of jams and jazz, rhymes and beats—a funky, musical mix, based in Richmond, Virginia. Butcher Brown makes “solar music,” forward-thinking, seamlessly blended amalgams of jazz and hip-hop infused with elements of funk, R&B, soul, rock, and every other sound under the sun. Their southern psychedelic fusion has made them jazz festival mainstays. In addition to touring with jazz giants Kamasi Washington and Nate Smith, they've delivered two NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, every improvisational leap therein stemming from the synergy and inexhaustible musical curiosity of the band’s five members. DownBeat has characterized them as a “'70s jazz-funk fusion throwback.”
