Butler Knowles
Butler Knowles is a bassist and educator whose roots in country music have laid the groundwork for his musical style today. From family jam sessions with his grandfather on the guitar, uncles on the banjo and fiddle and twin brother on mandolin to performing at Smalls and Dizzy's in NYC with the Sean Mason Trio to even sharing the stage with trumpeter Keyon Harrold, Butler has developed an unreserved sound on both the upright and electric bass that is vibrant and new-fashioned while also warm and reminiscent. He is the founder of the Worryless Music in Raleigh, NC and teaches folks of all ages at the Durham Jazz Workshop.
