North Pole Express - Enclosed Car
On Saturdays and Sundays, November 30th through December 15th the Boothbay Railway Village Museum will be running the “North Pole Express!” Departures will run 8 times each day beginning at 10:45am. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will only be available for purchase online.
EVENT DETAILS:
Start your trip inside historic 1912 Freeport Station (the main train station at the Museum) by writing your letter to Santa near the warmth of the wood stove.
Train conductors will call “All Aboard” and everyone, young and old, will board the train to the North Pole. A special keepsake (that will help spark the magic leap to the North Pole) will be given to each child. Settle into a comfortable seat in the classic passenger car or our open-air “Little Red Caboose” No. 551, built in 1904. As you round the tracks, enjoy the winter wonderland of forest frosted with white snow (weather permitting, of course.)
The train will carry you through the Village and arrive at the North Pole (Thorndike Station) where a special guest wearing a red suit with a jolly belly will jump aboard to greet you! Yes, Santa himself will attend! After meeting the “big guy” in person the train will whisk you back to the station where multiple opportunities await.
Weather permitting, the exhibits on the Museum’s lower campus will be open for exploring. Visit the Town Hall building for arts and crafts, a hot cocoa bar, and other sweet treats. Grab a s’mores kit and head out to the fire pit, then go on a scavenger hunt around the Village! The grounds and activities will be open from 10:30am – 4:30 pm both Saturday and Sundays. Standard tickets are $21 for attendees three years and older. Museum members receive a $4 discount per ticket. Children under 3 years of age do not require a ticket IF they do not require their own seat (sitting on a lap).
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
You MUST show up on time (preferably at least 15 minutes before train departure). All trains sell out, so we are unable to place you on another train. If you miss your train your ticket will be forfeited.
For your safety, there will be no car seats or strollers permitted on the trains.
Boothbay Railway Village reserves the right to run either steam or diesel at this event.
