Gregory Santa Croce is a Triangle-based keyboardist, improviser, and composer. In addition to leading his own groups, Greg has performed as a sideman on both piano and Hammond organ with local artists such as Al Strong and Kevin Golden. As a student at the renowned University of North Texas, Greg performed and recorded with the Three O' Clock Lab Band directed by Tanya Darby and with the University of North Texas Jazz Singers directed by Jennifer Barnes. Several of his arrangements have been performed and recorded by the University of North Texas One O' Clack Lab Band. Greg also has a master's degree in sacred music and works as music director at Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, North Carolina.
Science Fiction is a new large ensemble project led by Gregory Santa Croce at the Hammond organ featuring many Triangle-based artists. Inspired by innovative composers like Wayne Shorter, Charles Mingus, Gil Evans, and Sun Ra, the original music explores modern harmonic concepts and collective improvisation.
