The Sounds Of Harmony - Allstars were established in 2000 by its members:
Larry Jordan, James Faison, Jr., Mike Gilbert and George Spann, and have been friends for over 50 years. They all hail from Washington, DC!
On different occasions they have even sung in the same group.
Larry Jordan, has sung with the Flamingos and is currently singing with the Orioles and The Sounds of Harmony - Allstars. Larry Jordan was the singing half of Bonnie and Lee during the 1960s.
James Faison, Jr., has sung with the Flamingos, The Orioles, The Gospel Group, The Sons of Salvation and Glenn Leonard's Temptations Revue and is currently the bass singer for Pookie Hudson's Spaniels, where he started out as Pookie Hudsons bass player, before joining the group and is also with The Sounds of Harmony - Allstars
Mike Gilbert, has sung with The Flamingos, The Orioles and The Spaniels and is currently with The Sounds of Harmony - Allstars.
George Spann, has sung with and is one of the original Dynamic Superiors, famous for the song Shoe Shoe Shine, The Orioles, The Flamingos, The Spaniels, The Velons and is currently with The Sounds of Harmony - Allstars
After searching high and low for another voice they were fortunate to acquire, Reamer Shedrick (a.k.a June Bug) who compliments the group with his great voice. Reamer is also a member of the DC's Finest, Doo Wop Cops, acapella group and has been with that group for over 30 years.
The Sounds Of Harmony - Allstars are also accomplished musicians. George Spann, plays keyboards; organ and piano. Mike Gilbert, bass guitar and percussions, James Faison, Jr., plays bass and rhythm guitars and Larry Jordan, plays flute, keyboards and rhythm guitars.
At various times they have performed at such venues as: The Apollo Theater, Howard Theater, Madison Square Gardens, Nassau Coliseum, Las Vegas, The Washington Monument Mall, The Lyric Theater in Baltimore and various venues, that have taken them all over the country. Some members have traveled as far as Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France and England
According to Larry Jordan, "The Sounds Of Harmony - Allstars have dedicated themselves to the preservation of the history of vocal harmony music. It is so important for us to continue future group singing in its various forms of expressions. We are here to teach about the history of harmony type music and perform this type of vocal group harmony all over the world.
