Past Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Competition Winner
Tina Hashemi will be bringing her band from Richmond, Virginia to share a selection of jazz standards and songs from the Great American Songbook. Featuring Ayinde Williams on keys, Jimmy Trussell on bass, and Aaron Binder on drums.
Tina Hashemi is a gifted jazz vocalist based out of Central Virginia and Philadelphia. She began her studies with Danielle Wertz in high school and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia, where she studied jazz vocal performance under Stephanie Nakasian and John D’earth.
Her pure, unaffected tone, her sense of swing, and her creativity as an improviser with big ears and stores of imagination has made her a favorite with some of the most advanced musicians in the Virginia/D.C. area. Paul Langosch, who played with Tony Bennett for decades, Daniel Clarke, who was KD Lang’s pianist, Devonne Harris, member of Butcher Brown, and tenor saxophonist Charles Owens are now colleagues and fans of the sweet sensibility she brings to classic jazz standards and the Great American Songbook. In 2024, Tina was a finalist in the international Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition based out of Blues Alley that was judged by the New York Voices.
Tina has performed at the MAD Jazz Festival as well as the Lake Anna Jazz Festival. She has also led a masterclass at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she was a featured guest artist in their annual Gala concert.
Tina is in the process of recording a new album with some old and newfound musical friends. Her growth as an emerging artist continues as she explores her own unique voice in jazz music.
