Described by WNPR's Owen McNally as "A Modern Jazz Messenger" Bronx-born and raised saxophonist Albert Rivera has been a consistent force on a national and international level since finalizing his studies at The New School University Jazz and Contemporary Music Program. Downbeat magazine called Albert and his band "part of the next wave in this jazz ritual." Albert is a recipient of a Chamber Music America award and an ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award. He is the current Director of Operations at the Litchfield Jazz Camp.
His love, passion and dedication for music have put him on stage with the who's who in the industry including shows with Winard Harper, Claudio Roditi, Matt Wilson, Paul Bollenbeck, The Curtis Brothers and many others. He was fortunate to join one of the last versions of legendary pianist Junior Mance and his quintet before Junior’s eventual retirement.
His latest project and newest focus, the Albert Rivera Latin Jazz Quartet features a fun, high-energy ensemble, reworking classic standards and originals. He is endorsed by Vandoren Mouthpieces, Ligatures and Reeds. Albert performs exclusively on RS Berkeley Saxophones.
