The JoGo Project Celebrates Stevie Wonder

Website    Video

Stevie Wonder has had a unique career as a singer, composer, instrumentalist, performer and humanitarian. After his early years with Motown, who signed him up as 'Little Stevie Wonder' aged eleven, he gradually released a striking array of innovative music that addressed social and racial issues, as well as influenced the world of contemporary music as we know it today, including hits like “As,” “I Just Called To Say I Love You,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” "My Cherie Amour,” “Superstition,” “Part-Time Lover,” “For Once in My Life,” “Sir Duke,” “Overjoyed” and many more. Stevie Wonder is a true American phenomenon.

The JoGo Project is one of the busiest bands in the greater Washington, DC area, coming up on its 10th year since inception. Fusing many styles of music, JoGo is a cranking Go-Go band with Jazz harmonies and melodies at the core. Founded by DC native and in-demand saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed (and one of Chuck Brown's last saxophonists), The JoGo Project is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Chuck Brown, promoting DC's Go-Go music, and continuing to find their own sound while exploring the fusions of Jazz and Go-Go musics.
