Keith Snipes and Justin Taylor

Keith Snipes, vocals
Justin Taylor, piano

The path toward my musical journey was laid by my mother long ago. Music loomed large in our household, whether listening to gospel, soul, jazz, blues or even classical. My mother instilled in her four children a deep love of all types of music.  Without much money, we weren’t able to see live music performances too often. When mommy was able to get tickets to a show, we’d enjoy live music as a family, all four children in tow. I especially remember seeing the Impressions and the Four Tops, one of the most exciting events of my young life.

My mother was a remarkable vocalist herself. For a while she sung in a group called the Fairmounts, along with famed gospel singer, Shirley Ceasar. She taught us to sing. She taught us how to perform a song. She taught us to respect, love and live music.

In my teens I used the skills she taught me to pursue an acting career. It took me a while to focus on music as part of my performance work. Yet somehow now seems like perfect timing.
