With a 50-year career that’s included stints with Roy Haynes and Pharoah Sanders, and co-founding the Amnesia Express with Gil Scott-Heron, Carl Cornwell is a veteran saxophonist still performing high-energy post-bop contemporary jazz with blues and Latin influences. Carl was the featured saxophonist with the Washington DC-based Project Natale from 2002 until the untimely death of the Project’s co-leader, Joseph F. Natale, in 2020. Known in the 90s for his compositions and performances with his progressive jazz ensemble UNIT CIRCLE – a spin-off from the Amnesia Express – he earned grants for piano performance and jazz composition from the Maryland State Arts Council’s Individual Artists Program.

Herman Burney's early musical influences stemmed from his church upbringing, and later the Soul, R&B, and hard-core funk, but it was local musician Bill Bright who, “single-handedly started me on my Jazz journey.” After a chance encounter with George Duvivier, he settled on his beloved double bass. Herman continued to learn from John Clayton, Keter Betts, Ray Brown, Percy Heath, and Freddy Cole – playing in Cole’s band for nearly five years. He is passionate about sharing what he has learned with the next generations of jazz musicians. His performance credits are a who’s who (and where) of the global jazz scene.

Philadelphia-based Aaron Graves spent his formative years in Washington, D.C., playing bass guitar with acclaimed gospel music legend Richard Smallwood while attending the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts. Aaron is now a highly-regarded pianist and music director who has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and a host of luminaries, including Stanley Turrentine, Houston Person, Cassandra Wilson, Little Jimmy Scott, Vanessa Rubin, The Blackbyrds, and many others. His television and film credits include “Eyes on the Prize with Sweet Honey and the Rock”, The Lou Rawls Show, and a Broadway production of “Truly Blessed” about the life of Mahalia Jackson.

Greg C. Holloway returned to his native Washington, DC area after an illustrious career as a member and leader of various prestigious Air Force Field Bands. After returning to civilian life, Greg has performed with Hank Jones, Chuck Israel, Aretha Franklin, Jimmy Heath, The Master Chorale of Washington DC, Vanessa Rubin, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, among many others. His latest recordings are “Turns” and “Midnight Sun” on the G-Bop label.
