Featuring Reverend Akosua McCray & Reverend Larry Phillip McCray - Mother & Son Duo
Akosua McCray is an African American singer who performs Jazz, R&B, Folk and Gospel. Akosua's powerfully sultry voice soothes the soul, riles up the Spirit and bellows with an authentic tone that makes audiences fall in love with love, struggle, pain and music all over again. Born in April 1950, the stunning 70-year-old songstress, who is a former member of IN PROCESS, a D.C. a capella troupe who were the protege to the world-renown Sweet Honey In the Rock, struck out on her own as she grew in her social justice work and her call as a pastor and now elder in the Unity Fellowship Church Movement. But the gifted vocal stylist continues to sing at various venues and private events, offering the music of voices that she adores, from Nancy Wilson to Roberta Flack, Nina Simone, Phyllis Hyman, Angela Bofill, in her own unique and mellifluous way! With joy in her voice and a sinewy swag that commands attention, AKOSUA MCCRAY IS A VOCAL AND VISUAL FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!
