Eric Kennedy is a Baltimore native, drummer, vocalist, percussionist, educator and composer. Eric’s introduction to all styles of music and early music training was initiated by his musical relatives, who also cultivated his love of jazz. Eric continued his arts education at the Baltimore School for the Arts studying classical percussion and voice with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra percussionist John Locke, Donna Di Stefano and the late Dr. Nathan Carter and Ms. Jewel Churn of Frederick Douglass HIgh School. Eric has studied percussion and technique with legendary drummers Edgar Bateman, Johnny Polite, Billy Hart, Leroy Williams, Jamal Wilson and Clayton Cameron, voice with Timothy Shepherd and Odell Wilson and harmony/theory with Dr. Barry Harris.
Joel Santiago is a recording and performing artist, producer, and songwriter/composer, among other artistic mediums. One of the dedications for which he is known is in Latin jazz and Afro/Cuban music, as well as many other diasporic expressions with an array of drums and a tapestry of percussion sounds. Joel studied with John Zidar before attending Duke Ellington School of the Arts to study with Francis Thompson. He has furthered his drum set studies with Alejandro Lucini, Frank Russo and Lester Wallace. He has furthered his education at Berklee School of Music, and he has studied percussion under Alfredo Mojica, Renee Ibáñez, Carlos Caro, and Héctor Barez.
Together these two blend worlds of information, and in improvisation reach deep roots and expressions that will be sure to move everyone!
